Transforming Lives: The Power of Education
In celebration of its 5th anniversary, the Adenike-Kayode Fabunmi International Foundation (AKFIF) launched its first program at the School of the Special Person in Osogbo, Osun State. Under the supervision of the visionary convener, Mrs. Adenike Fabunmi-Adetuyi, the founder was represented by her PA, Faduyilemi Abiodun Abayomi, who and the members visited the primary and secondary sections of the school on June 13th, 2024. This visit aimed to give hope, love, and reassurance to the students, emphasizing that they are not forgotten by society.

Mr. Faduyilemi Abayomi, representing Mrs. Adenike Fabunmi-Adetuyi, delivered a speech highlighting the transformative power of education. He stated, “Education shapes character, instills values, and fosters empathy, compassion, and understanding. It empowers us to break barriers across cultures, communities, and continents. The impact of education extends far beyond the walls of our classrooms; it teaches us to think critically, question assumptions, and seek truth.” He urged the government to reflect on the power of education to transform lives and recommit to developing students with special needs, creating an environment that inspires curiosity, fosters creativity, and celebrates diversity. “Let us empower our students to become lifelong learners, compassionate leaders, and agents of change in their communities and beyond,” he added.

The foundation’s PRO, Mr. Adewale Seun, who also served as the program’s master of ceremonies, and Mr. Faduyilemi Abayomi, engaged the students in an interactive session where questions were asked, and prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly. Notably, Ademola Basit was recognized as the best male student in the primary section, and Onikola Wuadait as the best female student. Other students, including Goodness, Mercy, Ogunide, and Funmilayo, also received prizes from the foundation.

Mrs. Veronica, the Osun state coordinator, addressed the students, encouraging them not to lose hope and to identify and utilize their talents to become better individuals in the future.
Mr. Abayomi presented the gift on behalf of the convener for the welfare of the students, including 2 bags of rice, two kegs of groundnut oil, writing materials, detergents, toothpastes, toothbrushes, and sanitary pads, which were received by the students. He also awarded prizes to outstanding students in the secondary section such as Abisola Elizabeth for excellence in English, Ibrahim Sulamsn in Mathematics, and Oyewumi Funmilayo in Science. In his closing remarks, he encouraged students to think beyond their immediate surroundings and mentioned Yinka Ayefele, an artist thriving in the music industry despite his challenges.

The headmistress of the primary school, Mrs. Adeola O. T., expressed her gratitude to the foundation for their support and kindness. She thanked Mrs. Fabunmi-Adetuyi for her generosity and prayed for her continued success and protection. Mr. Oseni, the vice principal, also extended his appreciation on behalf of the staff and students.
